The first concept was with the idea in mind of making a jewelry holder (mainly for necklaces and bracelets) to give me some inspiration. The scale would probably only accommodate bracelets, but the idea of the object having a purpose was only a starting point to get me working anyways.
The second concept is pretty vase-like (as is most of my concepts) and I liked the idea of taking chunks out of decagons and seeing how that affected the extrusion. This idea would also be one I'd print upside down, and I accounted for such in the angles of certain parts of the shape.
The third concept came from messing around with tapering and adding shapes to make the edges of the extrusion look interesting. I created pillar-like shapes on the corners of the original extrusion and kinda played with the shape a bit.
The fourth concept is my most simple idea out of the 6, mainly because it's just me tapering and twisting a square shape. Because of its simplicity I am not particularly drawn to it, but it looks a little interesting.
The fifth concept came from the idea of making a shape that looked a bit like a tree trunk. To make sure the structure would be stable I added the hollow square column in the middle, but if I were to try again I might change that part a bit to be more interesting and fit the idea better.
The sixth concept is one of my favourites, this one was a bit of a culmination of the different ideas I had in my other concepts; I experimented with the extrusion and twist a lot, I had an idea for the inner tube part of it, and the end result reminds me a bit of a flower in its shape. Overall, this one tested my skills the most, but I think it worked out in the end.
